The history traces back to a group of parents who joined the booster club of their athlete's high school competition cheerleading team in Coon Rapids, which later launched the independent Competition Cheer Spirit Booster Club in 2016 and then Amp Athletics in 2020. In 2022, the Competitive Cheer Spirit Booster Club rebranded to CharitAbleMN, refining its mission to support Amp Athletics as a pillar program along with spirit groups and other youth-focused initiatives in the area. As a non-profit organization, Amp Athletics relies on donations, program revenue, and fundraisers, and notes that sponsoring organizations help them offer services at affordable rates. The organization functions under the direction of a volunteer Board of Directors.
