South Washington County Schools Community Education – Youth Classes and Activities (Athletics Camps & Clinics) offers options such as Swim Training, gymnastics, middle school athletics, recreation, music, performing arts, STEM, card playing, and a variety of camps and clinics. The program also includes swimming lessons, open swim, lap swim, diving lessons, water exercise, lifeguard training, certifications and safety, and pool rentals. Additional activities include Extreme Engineering: Motors & Pneumatics, opportunities to create, skills and development classes, and drivers education.

• Ages: 3–18 years old
• Schedule: Swim Training is offered year round on a monthly basis.
• Price: For Swim Training, registration ends online 1 week in advance of class start; thereafter a late fee of 10% is added to the registration fee.

In Swim Training, ages 10–adult have the opportunity to follow a consistent fitness program, with each meeting offering a designated workout according to ability. Swim Training participants are divided into levels of ability, and the coach covers a different topic each meeting day related to starts, turns, or stroke development. Aquatics and Swimming Lessons are offered in a positive, fun environment through group lessons for youth and adults, fitness classes, and private lessons.

In Extreme Engineering: Motors & Pneumatics, students use LEGO Education and LEGO Technic materials to study design, technology, science, and mathematics. Students work in pairs to build learning models, then are challenged to customize and improve their projects using the principles they discover. Topics in this class include design principles, mechanisms, pneumatics, pressure, prototyping, and energy, with possible builds such as a scissor lift, stamping press, robotic arm, robotic hand, animatronic scarecrow, and a dinosaur.

Youth Activities and Classes provide opportunities for children to grow socially, emotionally and physically outside the school day. Kids Club is a year-round, fee-based school-age child care option for SoWashCo students in grades K–5 before and after school, on non-school days, and in summer. Great Rivers Adult Education Consortium offers free classes for adults in high school diploma or GED, English as a Second Language, citizenship, digital literacy, job skills, and career pathways. Adult Activities and Classes are available for adults 15 and up, while activities for adults 50+ support healthy, active living and social connections. Adults with Disabilities programs are inclusive and focus on building friendships, learning, serving, and participating in the community.

SoWashCo CARES is a community-led nonprofit that meets student needs, creates opportunities, appreciates staff, and hosts events. In partnership with SoWashCo CARES, over $85,000 in financial aid has helped students access Community Education programs.
