Crosswoods Golf Course has a long history, beginning in 1967 when Mike's parents, Jack and Dee, started Crosslake Mini-Golf. In 1985, Jack opened a par 29 executive golf course, and in 1997 Mike and Kelly opened Crosswoods' front 9. In 2002, Crosswoods' back 9 was built over the old executive course, and in 2016 nine new holes were added on the East side, creating a 27-hole layout.
Crosswoods Golf Course has been voted BEST Golf Course in the Brainerd Lakes Area in the 2022 Brainerd Dispatch "Best of the Lakes" contest and is a "Business Excellence Award" winner from the Brainerd Lakes Chamber of Commerce. Minnesota Golfer Magazine has described Crosswoods as a "Hidden Gem" and noted its 8th hole as a "Great Drive," and the Star-Tribune Golf Guide has called it the best course in Northeast Minnesota for hospitality, playability, and value. Testimonials describe it as "The locals favorite golfing spot" and a "Hidden Gem." Crosswoods Golf Course is involved in the regional golf community and hosts a Minnesota Junior PGA Tournament on June 16th.
