About

The Dellwood Country Club Junior Golf Program includes Junior Golf, instructional clinics, and youth clinics. Participants play on the course at different levels, including 3 holes, 5 holes, 9 holes, and 18 holes. The program also includes participation in the MGA InterClub Series and the PGA Junior Tour.

The mission of the Dellwood Country Club Junior Golf Program is to nurture Junior Golfers in the rules, etiquette, and skills necessary for them to develop a passion for golf, the game of a lifetime. The Junior Golf program has over 100 juniors who participate annually, and three State High School champions have come from the club, with over 20 players going on to compete at the collegiate level. Beginning golfers play holes on the course while supervised by the Golf Staff. The Dellwood team travels to play against other teams in the area in the MGA InterClub Series, and the PGA Junior Tour has many events hosted by various Minnesota courses.

Clayton Johnson is the PGA Head Golf Professional and is a certified Club Repair Technician and Golf Shaft Specialist through Mitchell Golf. Assistant Golf Professionals include Cory Moran, Scott Springer, and Faith Ford. Scott Springer graduated from The University of Wisconsin-Stout with a degree in golf enterprise management and a minor in property management, was a member of the Stout golf team for four years, and is actively working towards his Class A PGA Membership. Pete LaCoursiere is the PGA General Manager. Additional leadership includes Peg Kelly as Director of Tennis, James Boyd as Food & Beverage Manager, Katie Boyd as Director of Banquets & Events, Peter Christenson as Corporate Chef, Christy Helmer as Banquets & Events Manager, Kaidra Gruber as Administrative Assistant, Ryan Kanewischer as Banquet Chef, Chris Forest as Locker Room Manager, Josh Malnory as Outside Services Manager, Michelle Murray as Financial Controller/HR, Eric Peterson as Grounds Superintendent, Randy Smith as Sous Chef, and Brita Link as Director of Food & Beverage.

The program uses an 18-hole championship course that balances playability for different skill levels, with six sets of tees ranging from 5,350 to 7,050 yards and a USGA-rated Short Course measuring just over 3,000 yards. Over $20 million in capital improvements have been made at the club since new ownership in 2012, including a complete driving range renovation and new Augusta White bunker sand in 2021. Over the past ten years, over five miles of drain tile have been added, and the course drainage has been improved so the course is playable despite weather conditions. Juniors have access to a fully stocked Golf Shop where PGA Professionals arrange play with demo equipment, assist with special orders, and help with custom fittings. Participants can walk the course with Kaddi-Lac push carts or ride using Finn Scooters or a fleet of EZ GO golf carts.

Dellwood holds certification from the USGA and Audubon International as an Audubon Sanctuary golf course and is a nationally ranked golf course. It has hosted numerous championship events, including the Minnesota State Open, Minnesota State Amateur, US Open Local Qualifying, multiple MGA and MWGA championships, USGA Amateur and Mid-Am qualifiers, the Women’s Minnesota State Open, and the 2024 Minnesota PGA Match Play. Dellwood’s dedication to ecologically sound land management and the conservation of natural resources has a positive impact that extends beyond the boundaries of the golf course and helps benefit the community. Dellwood Country Club states that it provides experiences for members in an environment that encourages the formation of enduring friendships, with personalized service, facilities, and a commitment to quality and fun.
