About
The Stumble Upon Art Youth Program teaches participants how to use biodegradable materials to create art. The artwork created in this program is placed on public biking and walking trails so people can “stumble upon” it in nature.

Project 412, which runs this program, was founded in 2022 and has the mission to elevate the artistic, cultural, and economic vibrancy of the lakes area. The Stumble Upon Art Youth Program partners with HIKEhoppers and is offered as part of a summer youth program through Detroit Lakes Public Schools and the Historic Holmes Theatre. Special recognition for this program is given to Lakes Region Arts Council, Clean Water Land & Legacy Amendment, HIKEhoppers, Detroit Lakes Schools, and Historic Holmes Theatre. This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from Lake Region Arts Council, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the Arts and Cultural Heritage fund. Project 412 is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization registered in the USA. Parents and community members have shared testimonials describing Project 412 as bringing live music, community art projects, and engaging experiences to Detroit Lakes, and as making direct contributions that they see as benefiting the surrounding area.
