Legacy Jr. Golf Academy Summer Junior Golf Program
Legacy Golf, 1515 Shumway Avenue, Faribault, MN 55021
About
Legacy Jr. Golf Academy Summer Junior Golf Program offers organized instruction that includes putting, chipping, pitching, bunker shots, driver and tee shots, full swing mechanics and iron control, and specialty shots from uneven lies. Participants take part in on-course learning and practice, including course play, short on-course games, target practice and drills, accuracy games using targets, skills challenges, competitions, recovery shots, shot shaping such as fades and draws, course management, and mental game work.
• Ages: 5–14 years old
• Schedule: 8 weeks of organized instruction on Tuesdays from June 9–July 28, 2026, with a rain make-up date on August 4, 2026
• Price: $370 +tax
The program follows an organized weekly structure with small group learning, positive and encouraging coaching, and a focus on skill growth and confidence. Groups are kept small so every golfer receives personalized feedback and encouragement under the guidance of multiple experienced instructors who bring high-level playing experience and a passion for teaching. Range balls and golf access are included, and on-course instruction and play are incorporated, especially in later weeks. The program is designed for all skill levels, from beginners to experienced junior golfers, and prioritizes safety, structure, and encouraging coaching in every lesson. Players under 14 must be accompanied by an adult outside of lessons.
Participants are asked to bring their own golf clubs if possible, and rental clubs are available if needed. Recommended attire includes comfortable athletic clothing, tennis shoes or golf shoes, and a hat, with golf attire encouraged but not required. Drop-off and pick-up take place at the pro shop flagpole, with parents asked to arrive at least 5 minutes early for drop-off, pick up promptly at the end of class, or inform the head instructor at drop-off if they expect to be a few minutes late.
The program is part of the Legacy Jr. Golf Academy, which operates at a public 18-hole Championship facility that offers practice facilities, a pro shop, golf cart and club rentals, a snack bar, season passes, corporate outings, competitive tournaments, leagues, junior golf programs, and world-class service. The course was designed by nationally accredited golf architect Garret Gill and opened for play in 1998. Leadership and operations are supported by Instructor Contact Piper Hill, Director of Operations Cres Stophel, and GCSAA Head Superintendent Tim Arett. The program’s stated mission is to provide a fun, structured environment where young golfers can learn the game, improve their skills, and build confidence while enjoying time on the course. The facility is partnered with Youth on Course Minnesota. One parent testimonial describes the course as a “gem” with immaculate fairways and greens, a links-style front nine, and a back nine with tree-lined holes and views overlooking the area.
