Maple Grove Rec Soccer offers recreational soccer programming that includes Lil' Blasters, Kickin' Kids, Kickin' Kids 2.0, Fuego Academy, and a Rec League. The program focuses on rec soccer activities under the Maplebrook Soccer Association’s recreational soccer programming.
• Ages: 3–14 years old
• Schedule: Winter 2026 and Winter II 2026 Saturday sessions with morning class times for Lil' Blasters, Kickin' Kids, Kickin' Kids 2.0, and Fuego Academy
• Price: U3–U4 (‘Lil Blasters) - $99; U5–U6 (Kickin’ Kids) - $99; U7–U10 (Fuego Academy) - $125; Rec League (U11–U14) - $125
In Winter 2026, Maplebrook rec soccer meets on Saturdays January 3, 17, 24 and February 7, 14, 21, with Lil' Blasters (Ages 3–4) and Kickin' Kids & Kickin' Kids 2.0 (Ages 5–6) running 8:00–8:45am, and Fuego Academy (Ages 7–10) running 9:00–10:00am. In Winter II 2026, it meets on Saturdays February 28, March 7, 21, 28 and April 4, 11, with the same age groupings and time slots. Recommended equipment includes a size 3 ball for U4–U8, size 4 ball for U9–12, and size 5 ball for U13+, along with cleats or athletic shoes, shin guards, soccer socks, and a water bottle.
Maplebrook Soccer has been community-owned and operated since 1987 and was established in 1987 by families from the Maple Grove and Brooklyn Park area. The stated purpose of recreational soccer in this program is for participants to have fun, play with a sense of team and community, learn the sport, and develop life skills including a lifelong love of the game. Maplebrook Soccer is a non-profit organization that offers recreational leagues and tournaments, coaching education, field development, and community outreach. It is the only soccer club in Maple Grove in partnership with the City of Maple Grove’s recreational soccer programming and state-of-the-art soccer facilities, and it guarantees 50% playing time.
The leadership team includes Aimee MacPherson (Director of Soccer Operations), Kalvan Lee (Boys Youth Director - U9–U12), Josh Soukup (Girls Youth Director - U9–U12), Jorge Brenes (Rec Program Coordinator), Cat Parkhill (GK Director), Jean-Yves Viardin (Executive Director), and Igor Stosic (Director of Coach & Player Development), along with board members Phillip Santillan (President), Melissa Roller (Vice-President), Traci Ohlenkamp (Secretary), Scott Hughes (Treasurer), Mike Debois, Chris Laird, Jonathan Berezo, Melanie Gates, and Chase Carey. Jean-Yves Viardin is one of only a handful of people in the state of Minnesota who has earned a USSF Senior A License, and Josh Soukup holds a USSF D License.
