Maple Grove Rec Soccer offers recreational soccer programming that includes soccer activities, games, scrimmages, skill development, training, and indoor soccer sessions. The program includes Foundations Academy, Rec Academy, and Competitive Rec sessions with set times in the evening.
• Ages: 3–18 years old
• Schedule: Seasonal sessions including a July session on Mondays and Thursdays, a fall season from August 24 to October 16, 2026, a holiday session from November 21, 2026 to January 16, 2027, a winter session from January 23 to March 27, 2027, a spring session from April 5 to April 29, 2027, and a summer session from May 17 to June 28, 2027
• Price: Foundations Academy cost: $125. Rec Academy cost: $175. Competitive Rec cost: $175.
Foundations Academy runs from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m., Rec Academy runs from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., and Competitive Rec runs from 7:45 to 9:00 p.m. The program is part of Maplebrook Soccer Club, which was established in 1987 and has been community-owned and operated since 1987. Maplebrook runs the recreational soccer programming for the city of Maple Grove and is the only soccer club in Maple Grove in partnership with the City of Maple Grove’s recreational soccer programming and state-of-the-art soccer facilities. Recreational soccer in this program includes low pressure, fun filled activities that are described as essential to the development of basic skills and tactical awareness, and players in recreational soccer are guaranteed 50% playing time.
The program’s stated purpose for recreational soccer is to provide an opportunity for participants to have fun, play with a sense of team and community, learn the sport, and develop life skills, including a lifelong love of the game. Recommended equipment includes a soccer ball (Size 3 for U4–U8, Size 4 for U9–12, and Size 5 for U13+), cleats or athletic shoes, shin guards, soccer socks, and a water bottle.
Maple Grove Rec Soccer is led by an executive and coaching staff that includes Executive Director Jean-Yves Viardin and Director of Soccer Operations Aimee MacPherson. The youth leadership includes Boys Youth Director U9–U12 Kalvan Lee, who is a National D Licensed U.S. Soccer Coach, and Girls Youth Director U9–U12 and Rec Program Coordinator Josh Soukup, who holds a USSF D License. Additional leadership roles include GK Director Cat Parkhill and Director of Coach & Player Development Igor Stosic. The Board of Directors includes Mike Debois, Chris Laird, Scott Hughes (Treasurer), Phillip Santillan (President), Jonathan Berezo, Melanie Gates, Melissa Roller (Vice-President), Traci Ohlenkamp (Secretary), and Chase Carey.
