About

Theatre Arts Training Camps and Classes include theatre games, acting, devising, and performance skills, along with musical theatre, music, and dance skills. Participants take part in activities such as creating original scenes and plays, learning new songs and choreography, building characters and worlds, and using improvisation, group brainstorms, and imaginative play. Camps and classes also offer visual art and stagecraft activities like puppets, scenery creation, props, costume and makeup design, movie making, and screenwriting, as well as rehearsing and performing scenes, dances, and songs from existing scripts and musicals, plus free play and organized activities.

• Ages: 2–18 years old

Discovery Theatre camps focus on imagination and storytelling leading to a short play based on a theme, World Premiere camps generate scripts created by students, Stagecraft camps start from visual art such as puppets, scenery creation, or props, and Showtime camps rehearse and perform adapted versions of existing scripts so each student has a chance to shine. Summer Labs are half-day camps focused on story making and design, and there are 11 weeks of summer camp with a new adventure each week for students in grades 1–12, with Saint Paul summer camps at Macalester College for rising grades 2–4 that include a final performance on the last day of camp. Extended care and scholarships are available for K–12 camps, and extended care is not available at the Saint Paul site.
