Cypher Side Dance School Youth Classes offers Break Dance, Hip Hop, and K-Pop dance. Break Dance classes introduce essential moves like top rock and basic footwork. Hip Hop classes focus on groove-based choreography, and K-Pop dance blends hip-hop and jazz with choreography set to Korean pop music.

Cypher Side was established in 2017 and opened its doors in 2021. Cypher Side’s founder is Lue Thao, and the owner and director is Lue “Finisher” Thao. The school’s mission is to cultivate a diverse and inclusive community that inspires and nurtures young dancers. Cypher Side Dance School's projects throughout 2024–25 are supported by Minnesota's Legacy (Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund).
Cypher Side provides a platform for learning and exploration across various dance styles and states that art is for the community. Cypher Side shows up for and gives back to the community whenever possible and has established itself as a hub for youth dance culture. Students train, grow, and perform on major stages like the Timberwolves halftime show, with past performances including events such as Hmong Story at Myth in St. Paul on November 16, 2025, the Minnesota State Fair, Cypher Rotunda, and Hmong Art’s Celebration at the Mall of America. Cypher Side offers dance classes for adults with developmental disabilities and believes that people with disabilities are creators of art and that all people should have access to practicing their dance craft.
Cypher Side states that it is inclusive and welcoming for all ages and abilities and that it has attracted students from many backgrounds, including youth, BIPOC individuals, LGBTQIA+ folx, and people with disabilities. The studio recreates the energy of a hip-hop cypher, intentionally fosters supportive relationships, and cultivates an attitude of continuous growth. The studio describes itself as a place where people can find community and belonging and as a central hub for youth dance culture. Cypher Side believes in the transformative power of performing arts and dance to instill confidence, strength, and resilience in youth, to uplift communities, to promote well-being, and to elevate the value of dance and the importance of dance artists. Cypher Side is located in the Minneapolis–Saint Paul metro, also known as the Twin Cities, which it describes as the most diverse area in the Midwest and a hotspot of open-style and hip hop culture.
