About

The Reading Center Tutoring Program offers testing and evaluations, student classes, and a 1:1 tutoring program. The program also includes a Reading Readiness program, testing and tutoring services, and outreach events. In addition, it provides teacher training, training for teachers and parents, Orton-Gillingham training, and professional development meetings.

• Schedule: In-person and online options are available for students and for adults in training.

The Reading Center Tutoring Program uses the Orton-Gillingham Approach, which is a research-based, multi-sensory, phonetic approach used throughout its programming by a team of specially trained tutors. Since 1951, thousands of children and adults have taken part in The Reading Center’s approach, and over the years it has trained 2,500 adults and educators in the Orton-Gillingham approach and worked with 15,000 students on their reading ability. The Reading Center is the only nonprofit in its region that offers a full array of services for dyslexic students and their families, including effective tutoring and training for teachers and parents. The program’s mission is to serve the educational needs of those with dyslexia through testing, tutoring, teacher training, and promotion of the Science of Reading.
