The program places a focus on Afro-Brazilian cultural traditions through rhythm, music, and movement. The academy is connected to the teachings of Mestre Amen Santo and Mestre Waldemar da Paixão, with roots that trace back to Besouro Mangangá. Guerreiro’s journey in capoeira began in 2000, and he founded Capoeira Minnesota in 2015, with mentorship from Mestre Versátil. Students from across St. Paul and the Twin Cities, including adults and families, participate in the capoeira programs.
