Summer Sports Camps offers focused sessions in Basketball Camp, Flag Football Camp, and Soccer Camp. The program is part of a broader set of youth sports programs that also includes sports camps, swim lessons, swim team, and educational summer day camps.

Each branch of the Marion & Polk Family Y holds various sports camps during the summer in Monmouth-Independence, Salem, and Woodburn. The Summer Sports Camps operate within the Family YMCA of Marion and Polk Counties, whose mission is guided by the core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility and has been in place since 1892. Leadership for these programs includes Megan Freeborn for the M-I Y, Dakota Smith for Salem, and Daniel Castaneda for Woodburn.
The organization offers several related programs, including an Adaptive Swim Program for children who are confined to wheelchairs, the Healthy Weight, Healthy Child program with 25 sessions for parents and children, Livestrong® for Cancer Survivors, Pedaling for Parkinson’s, Arthritis Programs, and Fall Prevention programs. It also continues YMCA traditions such as swim lessons, swim team, and youth sports programs, and facilitates Youth in Government, which is a program focused on civics and democracy.
Community involvement includes offering free family memberships to all foster families in Marion and Polk Counties, providing children from refugee families with free access to educational summer day camps, offering afterschool programming at 22 schools, and giving families access to free healthy meals through the Friday Meal Box Program. The organization provides discounts for military families, and 58% of members receive some form of financial aid, with a stated policy that no one is turned away for an inability to pay.
