Featured Events for Kids includes activities such as short books, songs, movement, stories, rhymes, and finger plays. The program also features 1000 Books Before Kindergarten, which encourages families to read to their children every day. Rhyme Time, Tales for Twos, and Story Time require registration and are reserved for library cardholders, and a CHPL library card is required to register for 1000 Books Before Kindergarten.
• Ages: 0–5 years old
• Schedule: Rhyme Time, Tales for Twos, and Story Time meet on select weekdays in 30-minute sessions
The program’s mission statement is: Create Community Honor Equity People Focused Lifelong Learning. Rhyme Time is for infants, crawlers, and walkers ages 0 to 23 months and develops motor, sensory, and social skills. Tales for Twos is developmentally designed for ages 24 to 35 months and develops language and pre-literacy skills. Story Time is developmentally designed for ages 3 to 5, improves literacy skills, and encourages school-readiness. 1000 Books Before Kindergarten is an ongoing early literacy program for families with children ages 0 to 5.
