Fernbrook Farms Environmental Education Center is part of a multifaceted 230-acre preserved farmland where 230 acres were permanently preserved under the New Jersey Farmland Preservation Act so no future development can take place on the farm. Across the entire farm, there is a focus on the interconnectedness of food, education, and agriculture, and CSA members can visit the farm animals and walk the forest trails during their visit. Fernbrook Farms is described as “NJ’s Premiere Nature Summer Camp!” and provides information on what to bring to camp as a listed resource.

‘Fernbrook’ was purchased by the Kuser family of Trenton, NJ in 1899, and the oldest building on the farm, The Inn, dates to circa 1760 and has been a center of warmth and hospitality for many years through weddings, events, dinners, and more. Third generation owners Susie and Q Kuser came to the farm in 1974, 230 acres of the farm were permanently preserved in 1996, and in 2015, fourth and fifth generation Kusers moved onto the farm. Fernbrook Farms states that it is a place that is shared with many and used to educate both young and old about food, the beauty of nature and sustainable farming practices. Over 500 families get a weekly share of fresh, organic vegetables from the CSA as they experience the sources of their food first hand, and the education center engages several thousand children each year as they experience the wonder of nature and learn about the sources of their food.
