About

Mercer United FC Girls Travel Soccer Program offers girls travel soccer with league games and tournaments. The program holds tryouts and includes existing teams in these sessions.

• Ages: 8–18 years old
• Schedule: In March the program holds tryouts for all ages, including existing teams.

Since its inception, Mercer United FC was initially focused on the boys’ side of travel soccer, and in the last two years the club has been working on building up the girls’ side of Mercer United FC. The girls travel soccer program has teams competing in MOSA and EDP and emphasizes players who are ready for something more than recreation soccer. The program is committed to building its girls program by creating new teams at the youngest ages 8 to 10 years old, based on the belief that starting at younger ages is the way to build a solid girls soccer community. The program states that players learn how to play soccer and have fun while building bonds and friendships with new teammates that will last a lifetime.

The Mercer United FC Girls Travel Soccer Program is led by MUFC Girls Program Director Sue Scheer, with Keith Monacchio serving as MUFC Beat Writer. Mercer United has players playing for various high schools in teams across the CVC and BSCL. Mercer United FC had six current players named to the Trentonian All-Area and All-CVC teams for the 2025 high school soccer season.

Testimonials connected with Mercer United FC include a statement from Zach Barton, team captain at Steinert, describing consistent high-level competition and growth in fundamentals, discipline, teamwork, and leadership. Additional quoted messages associated with the program include, “Starting is easy. Finishing strong is for the tough.” by Jeanette Coron, “Failure is success in progress.” by Albert Einstein, and a quote from Mia Hamm about the athlete and the little girl who fell in love with the game.
