Drobots Company has been offering creative summer camps to students nationwide for over twenty years. The mission of the program is to inspire students to reduce time in front of a computer screen and instead use drone technology in a setting that promotes collaborative project-based learning in a positive educational environment. The program is described as “The #1 STEM Summer Programs For Kids & Teens” and its drone programs are described as “the #1 drone camp in the country.” It offers programs for boys and girls in grades K–12, youth, pre-teen, and teen summer camps for grades 1st to 12th, an Overnight Summer Academy for grades 7th to 12th, a drone overnight and residential camp (Drobots Summer Academy) for grades 5th to 12th, and a National & International Drone Competition Series for students in grades 5 to 12. Drobots Company also runs an aerial robotics drone competition, corporate programs, competitions, and events for kids and adults all year long, and provides turnkey summer camp STEM, robotics, and drone programming for grant-funded solutions, curriculum licensing for schools or educational and camp programs, and franchise opportunities.
Students at Drobots Company use their imagination, hand-eye coordination, and STEM applications to work through challenges and missions, and the experiences flex between indoor activities and outdoor exploration. The company’s trademark slogan is “Where Technology Meets Fresh Air™,” and its teaching and learning approach is team-oriented, with friendly competition and gamified methods built on creativity, exploration, technology, and fun. Safety is stated as the number one priority, and participants do not need prior drone experience or their own drone equipment. Students are supervised by adult-led staff, including instructors with years of experience working with kids and teens, well-trained and positively motivated instructors, and staff selected through rigorous hiring standards that attract instructors from across the country.
Drobots Company has been honored with inclusion in Forbes Magazine and The Wall Street Journal and is fully accredited by STEM.org. The organization offers grant-funded summer programs. Testimonials from parents describe the program as having strong staff, providing a week of exploration and discovery, and note that much of the drone program time is spent outside. One parent reported that their child gained a sense of ownership and working knowledge of quadcopter technology, another shared that their family now races drones with neighborhood kids, another compared drones at Drobots to “the new Lego Robotics,” and another stated that the Drobots Drone Camp exceeded expectations and called it the most exciting STEM program their children had been part of.
