The mission of the Boys and Girls Club of Newark is to enable all of Newark’s young people to become caring, productive, and responsible individuals. Professionally trained staff provide support, passion, and guidance for participants. The leadership team includes Ameer Washington (Chief Executive Officer), Cynthia M. Banks (Vice President of Operations), Catherine Plymel, MPA (Chief Operating Officer), Antonella Generali (Director of In-School Operations and Programs), Amanda Gonzalez, LSW (Director of Development), Rosa Arenas (Community Relations Manager), Conner De Leon (Development Associate), Thailia Rodrigues (Assistant to the Chief Operating Officer), Shontonette Crawford (Membership Manager), and Fiona Ramdeo (People Operations Coordinator).
Boys & Girls Club of Newark reports serving over 600 young people during the school year and over 300 children at summer camp. It reports counseling and assisting over 100 families and providing free dental care to over 1,000 children. The organization states that it nurtures the whole child with free dental, vision, and wellness care. BGCN offers daily after-school programming for children ages 5–12 years old at six different locations.
