Princeton Ballet School

Princeton Ballet School offers children’s classes beginning at age 2.5, including Pre-Ballet and Foundation levels. It also offers Elementary Division classes for ages 8-12, Upper School Levels 4-8, a two-year Trainee Program, elective classes in contemporary, lyrical, flamenco, and tap, private coaching, open classes for ages 13 to adult, health, wellness and adaptive classes, summer programs, preschool residency programs, and performance opportunities for Foundation A through Level 8.

Programs

• Children’s Division — Beginning at age 2.5, up to age 7 · For the youngest dancers; includes Pre-Ballet and Foundation levels.
• Elementary Division — Ages 8-12 · Lower School Levels 1-3 for students developing classical ballet technique.
• Upper School Levels 4-8 — Provides firsthand understanding of the discipline, commitment, and expectations required for continued study at the collegiate or professional level.
• Trainee Program — A two-year program and the bridge between student training and a professional career.
• Elective Classes — Additional classes include contemporary, lyrical, flamenco, and tap.
• Privates & Coaching — Personalized coaching for ballet competitions or personal growth.
• Open Classes — Ages 13 to adult · Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced Open Classes; no prior dance experience required.
• Health, Wellness & Adaptive Classes — Providing nourishing and supportive dance experiences for people with differing abilities.
• Summer Programs — Summer intensive and children’s summer classes and camps are available.
• Preschool Residency Programs — Registration for Residency Programs at Parker and Discovery Years Learning Center only.
• Performance Opportunities — Foundation A through Level 8 · Students are eligible to participate in a variety of productions throughout the year.

About the provider

Princeton Ballet School was founded in 1954 and has over 70 years of educating dancers and creating dance enthusiasts. It is the official school of American Repertory Ballet and is described as one of the nation’s finest non-profit dance schools. The school has more than 20 specialized faculty members, and many faculty have graduate degrees in dance education and have won major teaching awards. Students may participate in The Nutcracker with American Repertory Ballet by audition only, and they may also take part in professional spring performances with American Repertory Ballet.

Free trial or placement class available by email or phone. 2026-2027 School Year registration is open. A credit card is required during registration but is only charged after enrolling in classes. Open Classes are drop-in with no commitment. Students can register ahead of time or on the same day for Open Classes.
