STEAM Works Studio offers hands-on activities that include robotics with LEGO Mindstorms EV3 and VEX, 3D printing and modeling, animation using SCRATCH and Blender, and practical electronics projects. The program also includes activities in lasers and optics in physics, math beyond school topics, website design, Java and C++ programming, and fun projects with Arduino. These activities take place at a wonderful center.
STEAM Works Studio operated from 2014–2022. Its stated mission is to spark creativity and bolster a deep interest in science, math, and arts in children and young adults through hands-on practical learning by “Making.” The academy is focused on fostering and developing 21st century and STEAM skills such as problem-solving, critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration in a hands-on and practical but fun learning environment, and it states a belief that “Making” can transform the way people learn, from preschoolers through retirees.
The program’s unique features include hands-on practical learning by “Making,” a personalized student STEAM roadmap, and a sharable student portfolio of all projects and subjects learned. It also includes a fun award system, real-world practical problems, small classes, and a launch pad for competitions. Preparation and challenge opportunities are offered for VEX Robotics Competitions, LEGO JrFLL, FLL, and Mathematics Olympiads.
