Steve & Kate’s Camp started in 1980 and now has more than 70 locations from Manhattan to Manhattan Beach. The Princeton camp’s director is Sabrina. The camp’s mission states that during summer, campers choose which activities they do, whom they do them with, and for how long. The program includes a Media Lab with film, coding, robotics, virtual reality, and interactive art apps, as well as guided activities and self-directed games with robotics using robot landscapes and custom mazes. Youngest Camper Support Staff are dedicated specifically to supporting the youngest campers.
Families can buy any number of day passes, attend camp on any day during the season, and receive automatic refunds for any unused passes at the end of summer. Long camp hours are included, and parents can drop off and pick up within camp hours. Tasty meals and snacks are included, with cuisine that features rotating specials and healthy snacks and sides that kids can grab whenever they want, and sample menu items listed include Caesar Salad, Cheese Pizza, Creamy Tomato Soup, a plain bagel with cream cheese, and a turkey and cheese sandwich. In partnership with fan favorite restaurants, the camp provides food for campers.
Weekly specials may include a giant inflatable, a musical performance, a movement workshop, or a popup petting zoo. Sports & Rec offerings include running, jumping, throwing, kicking, playing classic sports, and making up new games. Sewing options include hand-sewing and machine sewing to design and create garments, accessories, and other cloth creations. Baking activities involve exploring new baked creations with different fillings, spices, and add-ons. Coding is practiced hands-on with iPad apps, and campers can build 3D worlds with an interactive virtual reality experience and use interactive art apps.
Princeton Day School, where the camp takes place, is ADA accessible. As summer approaches, registered families receive a link to a virtual camp orientation with information about local drop-off and pick-up procedures, how to check in and out each day, what to bring and not bring, and other camp details. The State of New Jersey requires additional paperwork for all children attending camp in Princeton, and a link to the required forms is emailed after registration.
