Ron Wood Family Resource Center Classes offers F.I.R.E. (Focus, Identify, Respond, Evaluate) — Managing Your Emotions As A Teen for middle- and high-school students, I.G.N.I.T.E. (Inspire, Grow, Nurture, Imagine, Thrive and Encourage) for elementary school-aged youth, Active Parenting – First Five Years for parents of children ages 0-5 years old, Positive Action for children ages 6 to 11 and youth ages 12 to 18, and Cooperative Parenting through Divorce or Separation for parents who are getting divorced or already are separated. The classes include learning ways to manage anger, managing a child’s emotions, bonding and encouraging positive behavior, improving communication and relationships, and making choices during divorce or separation.

About the provider

Founded in April 1995, the center states that its mission is to create a lasting, community-wide cooperative effort between the private sector and governmental agencies to promote healthy family relationships through education and support services. Nearly two dozen Center programs operate under 15 grants and private donations, and the Center provides 8,000 to 9,000 units of service to the local community each month.

• Active Parenting – First Five Years — parents of children ages 0-5 years old · Receive education in how to bond as well as prevent problems and encourage positive behavior.
• Positive Action — children ages 6 to 11 and youth ages 12 to 18 · Program for families who want to improve communication and their relationships.
• Cooperative Parenting through Divorce or Separation — parents who are getting divorced, or already are separated · Helps parents make the best choices for their child and support the child during conflict.

There is no wait time for services. Bilingual individuals proficient in Spanish and English are available. Parent attendance is mandatory for I.G.N.I.T.E.
