Reno Shotokan Karate Club offers karate practice for TMCC students, faculty, or staff. Practices are held Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM during the fall and spring semesters, and from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM during the summer months. No special equipment is needed, and practices are free to TMCC students with at least 1 credit for the semester.

About the provider

Reno Shotokan Karate started practices in 2021, officially became a dojo in 2022, and became a karate club in September 2025. Instruction is led by AnnaSheila Paul. The club says karate practice emphasizes courtesy, integrity, humility, justice, honor, and self-control, and that it strives to strengthen body, mind and spirit, perfect character, and faithfully transmit the art to future generations.

  • Reno Shotokan Karate Club — TMCC students, faculty, or staff; the practices are free to TMCC students with at least 1 credit for the semester · Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6:30 PM–8:00 PM during fall and spring semesters; 5:30 PM–7:00 PM during summer months · Practices are held at Truckee Meadows Community College, 7000 Dandini Boulevard, Sports & Fitness Center, Rooms 111 & 112. The club became a karate club in September 2025.

The practices are FREE to TMCC students with at least 1 credit for the semester. You need to be part of TMCC (either as a student, a faculty member, or a staff member) to practice. After practicing for a couple of months, if you decide to stay, you may join Shotokan Karate of America ($125 per year). As a member of SKA, you can test for rank twice per year at no charge and attend SKA regional, national, and international events open to your rank. Black belt testing is free but by invitation only.
