About
Capital District YMCA Youth Programs and Camps offers day camps, after-school programs, early childhood care, leadership programs, teen programs, and after school child care. The program also includes swim lessons, group exercise classes, and adult enrichment programs, along with specialized offerings such as Pedaling for Parkinson’s, LIVESTRONG®, and Circle of Champs. Participants may also take part in community-focused efforts like food drives for local pantries, Basket Brigade, and Running Start.
The Capital District YMCA states that its mission is to support, engage, and strengthen the Capital Region community through programs and partnerships focused on youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Community involvement connected to these programs includes the African Heritage Parade, which was launched in 2019 and is held over Juneteenth Weekend in downtown Albany, as well as Basket Brigade, which provides meals to over 1200 families each Thanksgiving. Running Start distributes school supplies and clothing to more than 800 kids in need before each school year, and Circle of Champs serves families of children facing life-threatening illnesses. The Capital District YMCA reports delivering $2 million in impact across the Capital Region every year, including $500,000 in scholarships, and notes a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion as a community advocate and partner.
