Steve & Kate’s Camp was created in 1980. The Brooklyn site’s director is Shirley. The camp’s mission states that during summer, campers choose which activities they do, whom they do them with, and for how long. Campers participate in Steve & Kate’s traditions such as Find Chuckie, Friday Pie-Day, and weekly specials that may include giant inflatables, musical performances, movement workshops, or popup petting zoos. The program notes that additional state-required paperwork must be submitted for every child before their first day of camp, and that as it gets closer to summer, registered families receive a link to a virtual camp orientation with information on local camp procedures and what to bring. For Monday water play, campers are asked to bring a labeled swimsuit, towel, and water shoes or sandals to participate.

The camp offers a Mentorship Program intended exclusively for children ages 14–15 at this location for Summer 2026, in which mentees help facilitate camp activities, engage with campers, and encourage camper connection and participation. Families can buy any number of day passes, attend camp any time within camp hours, and receive automatic refunds for unused day passes at summer’s end. Unused Mentorship Day Passes are automatically refunded in full at summer’s end, and if fewer than 30 days are used on a Mentorship Summer Pass, the difference from the daily rate is automatically refunded. The program states that long camp hours, as well as meals and snacks, are included in the camp fee, and that drop-off and pick-up can occur at any time within camp hours.

Testimonials describe the camp experience from various perspectives, including comments from Andrew Stanton, director of WALL-E, Finding Nemo, and Finding Dory, and coverage from Apple’s Hot News, Variety magazine, The Washington Post, and the Chicago Tribune.
