About
World Explorers School Break Camp offers my caregiver & me classes, spring break activities for kids in Brooklyn, and summer camp. The program also includes camp and after school programs, after school for middle school students, creative enrichment classes, and flexible drop-off childcare programs. Children spend time exploring movement, music, and storytelling inspired by different cultures, engaging with guest artists, educators, and caregivers who bring lived experiences into the space, and building early empathy through shared rituals, collaboration, and imaginative play.

World Explorers School Break Camp is part of World Explorers, Brooklyn, a family focused company offering programs for children ages 1 to 14. In 2003, Kisha Edwards-Gandsy and Keyanna Murrill began laying the groundwork for World Explorers while in college at New York University. The program’s pedagogy is rooted in the belief that children are naturally curious and ready to learn, and it creates experiences that focus on openness, confidence, and a sense of belonging in a wider world rather than on mastery or memorization. World Explorers describes itself as both a program and a philosophy, with community at the heart of everything it does, and with inclusivity described as part of its daily rhythm and company culture.
The mission states that, rather than teaching about the world in a rigid or academic way, the program creates experiences that help children feel connected to it, and that children are not rushed toward outcomes but are invited into experiences that help them see themselves as capable learners and connected members of a larger world. The program states a commitment to building spaces where curiosity is protected, differences are respected, and learning feels expansive rather than prescriptive. The community involvement description notes that classrooms are enriched by the people who enter them, including families, caregivers, and guests, and that these contributions shape the learning environment so children encounter many ways of being, communicating, and caring, with an invitation for families to be part of a village.
The program also notes that its podcast is a kid-friendly space where experts gather to inspire and equip families, communities, and the planet to have tough, often taboo, timely conversations about life. Information provided about SACA and American Camp Association accreditation explains that SACA accreditation verifies that a camp has complied with up to 290 standards for health, safety, and program quality, and that the American Camp Association collaborates with experts from the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Red Cross, and other youth-serving agencies so that ACA-Accredited camps reflect current, research-based standards in camp operation. The description of ACA accreditation states that it is a parent’s evidence of a camp’s commitment to health and safety and that ACA standards cover all aspects of camp operation, from site and food service and health care to management and staffing, with regular, independent peer review that goes beyond regulations in most states.
