Buffalo Arts Studio Education Program is part of a Dynamic Education Program that has provided professional arts training to youth and adults for over a decade. Students may register and pay online, and registration is first-come, first-served. During summer months, students are encouraged to bring water bottles to class, and there is a water refill station on the 6th floor directly outside the elevator.

Buffalo Arts Studio was established in 1991, with its larger exhibition program developed in 1992, a mural program in 1993, and an education program in 1998. The Education Director is Jayne Hughes. The organization’s mission states that it is committed to creating cultural connections in the community through exhibitions, public art, and educational programs, and it provides exposure and affordable studio space for local visual artists. Buffalo Arts Studio states a belief in the transformative power of the arts to inspire and affect positive change and describes itself as a catalyst for self-empowerment and for the cultivation of new ideas and actions to enhance the region.

Buffalo Arts Studio reports that its exhibition program focuses on new works by emerging and established regional artists that critically address contemporary issues, with 10–12 exhibitions in two main galleries per year, attracting about 13,000 annual visitors and an average of over 1,000 visitors per month. It notes that 30 Studio Artists have work space within the 20,000 square foot art center. Buffalo Arts Studio was awarded “Best Art Classes in Western New York” from Buffalo Spree Magazine and received Buffalo Spree’s Best Exhibit, Small Gallery 2023 for George Afedzi Hughes’s “Identity, Power, and Reconciliation” and Best Exhibit, Small Gallery 2022 for Tommy Nguyen’s “new gods, Old America.”

Buffalo Arts Studio describes its community involvement by stating that artists and curators can effect change through purposeful collaborations that balance community needs, artistic insight, and educational impact. It reports that, located on Buffalo’s east side, it has enriched a previously underserved area through arts programming, educational opportunities, and community events. In its Community Space, it hosts special events and exhibits work by individual artists and partnering civic, educational, and cultural organizations. Special events include Community Space exhibitions, panel discussions, guided tours, public art, on-going partnerships, and art party fundraisers. Buffalo Arts Studio partners with M&T Bank each Fourth Friday of the month from January to October for special events with extended hours.
