Town of Colonie Parks and Recreation Programs include activities such as biking, walking, hiking, jogging, skating, cross-country skiing, swimming, and Learn-To-Swim. The programs also feature a fishing contest, Town Band concerts, Memorial Town Band concerts, and Town Brass Choir concerts. Participants can also use facilities that include an Olympic size pool with a diving area, training pool, splash pad, bath house, two pavilions, picnic facilities, tennis courts, playground equipment, nature trails, a covered bridge, and cross-country ski trails, as well as walking paths, bike trails, rolling fields, thick stands of trees, an orchard, and a three-acre pond.
• Schedule: Pool and Splash Pad are open daily from 10:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on May 24, 25, 26, May 31 and June 1, 7, 8, and June 14 through September 1, 2025 (weather permitting). Parks and Recreation office contact hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The Town of Colonie Parks system encompasses 850 acres of land for recreational use. The department offers various programs and special events to the public, including the Summer Enrichment Program and Learn-To-Swim, and provides an Online Parks Portal that can be used to enroll in activities, reserve rental spaces, obtain pool passes, and more. For the 2025 season, a Resident FOB is required to enter the Colonie Town Pool, and the Splash Pad features recirculated water.
Pool and Splash Pad rules include requiring swim diapers for children who are not toilet trained, and these children must wear a swim diaper covered by rubber pants on the Splash Pad. Only US Coast Guard approved life jackets are allowed in the pool. No pets are allowed in or around the pool area, and no animals are allowed on or near the Splash Pad. No glass containers are allowed inside the locker room or pool area, and all food and drink must be kept in the concession area.
The Crossings of Colonie was awarded the 2018 Capital Region’s #1 Best Park. The Town of Colonie offers a free, voluntary electronic service to any resident interested in learning more about town services, activities, alerts, and events. Peter G. Crummey serves as Colonie Town Supervisor and was sworn in as the 18th Supervisor of the Town of Colonie on January 1, 2022.
