Eleanor Whitmore Early Childhood Center offers activities such as a fun family event where families come to the beach, get a kite, decorate it at the art table, and fly it. For more than 50 years, the Center, formerly known as East Hampton Day Care, has supported year-round working families with young children. Its mission is to support working families in a socially and economically diverse community by providing a comprehensive, nurturing, and research-based early childhood education for children six months to four years that addresses social, emotional, intellectual, linguistic, and physical development, and by seeking out and engaging innovative public and private sector partnerships that expand and enhance its ability to support working families. The Center welcomes more than 100 children under the age of four of year-round working families and provides affordable, high-quality early education and full-day childcare for children ages 6 months to 4 years old, 10 hours a day, 12 months a year. The program uses a comprehensive, research-based social emotional curriculum utilizing the Creative Curriculum for Infants, Toddlers & Pre-schoolers and follows the Teaching Strategies, Creative Curriculum endorsed by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). Eleanor Whitmore Early Childhood Center is the only licensed, non-profit childcare center on the east end providing affordable, high-quality childcare and early education programs, is licensed by the New York State Office of Child & Family Services (OCFS), and is affiliated with the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). The Center is a fully licensed Childcare Center by the State of New York under the guidance of the Office of Child and Family Services (OCFS). The program is led by Executive Director Tim Frazier and staffed by caring, well-trained early education professionals. The Center embraces the cultural, ethnic, and economic diversity of children and strives to build relationships and understanding, and it supports year-round working families with young children while engaging public and private sector partnerships that expand and enhance its ability to support working families.
