The Eleanor Whitmore Early Childhood Center is a fully licensed childcare center by the State of New York under the guidance of the Office of Child and Family Services (OCFS). EWECC is a member of the National Association of the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). For 50+ years, the Center, formerly East Hampton Day Care, has supported year-round working families with young children. The Center’s mission is to support working families in a socially and economically diverse community by providing a comprehensive, nurturing, and research-based early childhood education for children 18 months to five years that addresses the needs of each individual child and prepares them for critical life transitions, a future of positive mental health, and a lifelong passion for learning, and by seeking out and engaging innovative public and private sector partnerships that expand and enhance support for working families. The Center partners with the Yale Child Study Center and SUNY Old Westbury in the development of parent and caregiver engagement with the program. Tim Frazier serves as Executive Director. The Center is the only licensed, non-profit childcare center on the east end providing affordable, high-quality early education and full-day childcare for children ages 18 months to 4 years old, 10 hours a day, 12 months a year.
