About

Children’s Camps at Tanglewood Nature Center & Museum take place at a not-for-profit nature center that includes two trail systems and an indoor museum. The setting includes over ten miles of trails that pass through meadows of old farmlands, rounded hills formed by ancient glaciers, complex wetlands, deciduous forests, and areas with expansive views. The indoor museum space includes an indoor forest with over 40 different species of animal ambassadors and taxidermy, and exhibits that provide homes for more than 40 non-releasable, rehabilitated, or surrendered native and exotic animals.

• Schedule: Museum open Tuesday–Friday 9am–4pm; Saturday 10am–4pm; closed Sunday–Monday

Tanglewood Nature Center & Museum offers educational programs for children and adults and seasonal camps, and welcomes over 35,000 visitors a year. The organization’s mission is “to lead and support education and preservation efforts in our region to achieve a heightened awareness, understanding, and caring for our natural environment.” Its vision is to become a recognized leader in promoting respect and appreciation for the natural environment. Tanglewood is always free to visit and maintains an annual appeal goal of $30,000.00, with every donation directly supporting its animals, trails, exhibits, and educational outreach. The organization notes that the last fifty years have shown it what a great community it has, and that every member helps make Tanglewood a place for people to explore.
