The Capital District YMCA states that its mission is to support, engage, and strengthen the Capital Region community through programs and partnerships focused on youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Scholarships are available for families who need financial support, and DSS is not accepted through the DOH permit for camp, with families receiving DSS encouraged to apply for a scholarship. The Capital District YMCA reports delivering $2 million in impact across the Capital Region each year, including $500,000 in scholarships and programs related to youth development, safety around water, and hunger relief. It also runs food drives for local pantries, Basket Brigade meals for over 1,200 families each Thanksgiving, and Running Start school supplies and clothing for more than 800 children before each school year.
New registrants receive an email with instructions to set up a CampDoc profile, and all required documents must be uploaded before a child can attend. The program references a 2026 Camp Guide, Travel Camp Schedule, What to Bring to Camp, NYS DOH Camp Info, and a Cancellation Request as resources.
One parent, Marie, reports that her daughter has attended YMCA Summer Camp for over eight years, enjoys going every day, has built positive relationships with children and staff, and especially likes swimming in the pool and playing on the playground and in the dirt. Another parent, Tom, reports that his 5-year-old son at YMCA Adventure Camp enjoyed being outside, having time to run around and be active, daily swimming opportunities, making new friends his own age, and found drop-off and pick-up convenient and well organized.
