Parents using these programs can also use Child Watch while they work out.

What began as a small program at the Albany YMCA in 1936 has grown into a nationwide initiative that connects young people with democracy through hands-on learning. The Capital District YMCA states that its mission is to support, engage, and strengthen the Capital Region community through programs and partnerships focused on youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Through scholarships, the YMCA directs support to low-income youth.
The Capital District YMCA is involved in several community efforts connected to its youth and family focus. Basket Brigade, run with HMA Contracting, Hamel Real Estate & St. Edwards Church, and the Capital Region Food Pantries, provides Thanksgiving meals to over 1,200 families each year, and food drives support local pantries. Running Start distributes school supplies and clothing to more than 800 kids in need before each school year. Additional programs include Pedaling for Parkinson’s for patients and caregivers, LIVESTRONG for cancer survivors after treatment, and Circle of Champs, which serves more than 150 families of children facing life-threatening illnesses.
