The YMCA of Long Island is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility, and YMCA Family Services is the social services and mental health arm of the YMCA of Long Island. The diverse staff includes licensed social workers, licensed mental health counselors, credentialed alcohol and substance abuse counselors, a psychiatrist, a physician’s assistant, and other trained advocates. The YMCA of Long Island partners with school districts in Nassau and Suffolk counties to support student learning, and its Community Education program offers visual displays, literature distribution, and a Speaker’s Bureau that can tailor presentation formats and topics for schools, community agencies, church groups, and other community organizations. YMCA Family Services offers a Family Connection network of parents, spouses, guardians, and other family members that meets monthly. The YMCA offers specialized services geared toward the needs of women, including women-only group counseling sessions and childcare services for members with children.
