About
YMCA of Long Island Youth Programs are offered through the YMCA of Long Island and its YMCA Family Services branch. YMCA Family Services provides a comprehensive menu of treatment and prevention services that promote the emotional wellness of individuals, families, and the community at large. The YMCA of Long Island emphasizes four core values in character development — caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility — in every activity and interaction.

For 175 years, the YMCA has been keeping families, children, adults, and communities safe in and around the water. The YMCA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility. The YMCA of Long Island partners with school districts in Nassau and Suffolk counties to support student learning, and its Before and After School Program provides academic support and hands-on enrichment experiences in a safe and structured environment for children in grades Kindergarten through Middle School. The YMCA of Long Island provides financial assistance for those who may not be able to afford the full cost of programs and services, and YMCA members have access to YMCA360, an on-demand digital platform that includes select Les Mills workouts.
YMCA Family Services’ diverse staff includes licensed social workers, licensed mental health counselors, credentialed alcohol and substance abuse counselors, a psychiatrist, a physician’s assistant, and other trained advocates. Family Connection is open to the community and is a network of parents, spouses, guardians, and other family members that meets monthly. The YMCA offers specialized services geared toward the needs of women, including women-only group counseling sessions and childcare services for members with children.
