About

Manhasset/Great Neck E.O.C. Youth and Summer Programs include basketball training and skills development, homework assistance and tutoring, mentoring, and career exploration activities. The programs also offer educational, cultural, recreational, and enrichment activities, as well as Youth Employment for teens and a comprehensive early childhood program.

• Ages: 3–18 years old
• Schedule: The Head Start program offers a comprehensive full day, full year early childhood program.

The Head Start program offers a comprehensive full day, full year early childhood program designed to meet the individual needs of 3- and 4-year-old children. Children from income-eligible families must be 3 years of age prior to December 1 and live in Manhasset, Great Neck, Roslyn, or Port Washington to be considered for enrollment in Head Start. Families can apply for the Manhasset/Great Neck Head Start program online, and if a family has previously enrolled a child, they are instructed not to fill out a new application but to email necessary documents so the child can be added to the same family profile. Head Start application supporting documents can be sent to [email protected], including the child's birth certificate, a copy of the lease, proof of income from both parents, and parent IDs.

The Manhasset/Great Neck EOC Youth Program offers programs after school, evenings, and weekends for teens and young adults. The Manhasset/Great Neck E.O.C. Summer Program is described as a summer filled with fun and education for children from 1st through 8th grade, providing a full day of educational, cultural, recreational, and enrichment activities to help develop and build character. The summer program also provides Youth Employment for teens to help with work experience and job readiness. “Adventures in Learning” is an after school homework assistance and cultural enrichment program operated as a separate not-for-profit organization and has been a fixture in the facility for more than 45 years.

The mission is to help “at risk” youth and families by providing support for both children and their families. The Manhasset-Great Neck Economic Opportunity Council, Inc. was incorporated in 1966. Stephanie Chenault is the Executive Director and Head Start Director. Community involvement includes support from Steve Panzik of P10 Fitness Port Washington, who is gearing up to run from Montauk to Manhattan in support of the Manhasset Great Neck EOC, and the Manhasset-Great Neck E.O.C. sharing its history, programs, and ways to give back with Public Access TV. Shelter Rock Church Food Pantry operates at the Manhasset/Great Neck E.O.C., and the food pantry will be open Tuesdays from 4 to 6.
