  • Acro — Ages 3 to adult · Acrobatic dance combines classic dance technique with the athleticism of acrobatics.
  • Modern — Ages 3 to adult · Coupe’s award-winning Modern Dance program provides students with a strong technical foundation while fostering their individual creative spirit.
  • Hip-Hop — Ages 3 to adult
  • Musical Theatre — Ages 3 to adult · Introduces students to Broadway songs and includes warm-up, learning show tunes, and acting and staging techniques.
  • Acting — For students in the fifth grade and above · Explores the acting process using theatre games and improvisation, monologues and scene work.
  • Performance Ensemble — Intermediate Ensemble: 6th, 7th, and 8th graders; Senior Ensemble: high school students · Weekly, one hour; through the school year · Includes Theatre Dance, Musical Theatre, Acting, and Vocal Coaching. Admission is by recommendation only.
  • Contemporary Jazz (Lyrical) — Designed for high school students and older · Fusion class that combines expressive movement with ballet technique.

About the provider

Coupé Theatre Studio opened in 1970 in Nanuet, New York. The artistic director is Diane Coupé Frankel, and the associate artistic director is Alison Lister. Diane Coupé Frankel received the Stanislav Idzikowski Award for choreography in 1956 and the Rockland County Executives Arts Award in 1990. Alison Lister received the County Executive’s Arts Award in Arts Education in 2000. Students can perform at the end of the year in Coupé’s fully staged annual Dance Festival, and they can audition for and perform in Rockland Youth Dance Ensemble’s yearly production of The Nutcracker.

Classes are offered for ages 3 to adult, beginner to pre-professional. Small classes are noted. Walk-ins are welcome for free trial classes. Contact [email protected] for more information.
