Tumble-Bee Gymnastics started in August 1986 in Pearl River, New York, before moving to New City and then settling in Nanuet, New York. Since 1995, it has been the only gym in the area to teach the nationally recognized Fun & Fit Gymnastics curriculum, which is now combined with an online Smart Moves Program. The program specializes in young children, including a preschool program for ages 10 months through 5 years, with weekly lesson plans, theme weeks, and set-ups for the preschool programs, and a Fun & Fit non-competitive gymnastics program for children ages 5 through 12 years. The staff is described as warm, caring, and trained to work with children.

The program states that its goal is for every child to succeed by building self-confidence and self-esteem through physical and mental challenges in a fun, safe environment, and that it offers an education in gymnastics, fitness, and fun. It states that all children are special, that they deserve self-confidence from an early age, and that it teaches skills that give children the confidence and self-esteem they need to achieve success in the future. The program states that safety and fun go hand in hand.

All registrations must be completed online, and the program accepts MasterCard, Visa, American Express, Discover, check, or cash. Private classes are available upon request. Only one parent is permitted in the gym for parent classes, and siblings are not permitted in the gym and must remain in the waiting room. No child is permitted to exit the building without a parent. Open Gym is offered to registered students attending Toddler, Romp N Roll, and Busy Bee/Tumble Bee classes 4 years and younger and their preschool siblings 4 years and younger.

Families are asked to have children wear comfortable gym clothes. Girls may wear a leotard, shorts, or sweatpants, with hair pulled back away from the face with clips or a hair tie. Boys may wear shorts and a T-shirt. Large, oversized T-shirts, dresses, jeans, long baggy pants, tights, and jewelry are not permitted. Children are in bare feet, and parents wear no shoes in the gym area; shoes must be removed before entering the gym area to use the restrooms. Cell phones are not allowed during parent classes, and if a parent needs to take a call, they are asked to go to the waiting room with their child. Families are asked not to bring a sick child or sick sibling to the gym, and children must be free of a fever for 24 hours without medication.

One parent review states that all the staff at a birthday party were wonderful and very attentive to the kids. Another review describes the staff at a birthday party as great and mentions that blowing up the bounce house with the kids laying on it was “epic.” A third review from a former Tumble-Bee participant describes bringing a child to the program for the last couple of years and holding a 5th birthday party there, noting that staff took care of everything and that kids were still talking about the party a week later.
