Daniel's Music Foundation Programs is led by the Trush family, including Daniel Trush. The organization describes its mission as empowering individuals of all abilities to grow as musicians, express themselves creatively, and flourish as part of a community, while challenging the world to think differently about disability. The same statement describes how the program connects participants as part of a community. The program’s history notes that the world changed for Daniel Trush and his family in 1997, when he fell into a coma as a 12-year-old. One parent of a DMF Online participant shared that her son does not get excited by many things, and that the program makes his world smaller and less scary, and thanked the program for what it does for him.

Daniel's Music Foundation Programs also includes a record label, The Danny Awards, and an Artist Residency at Bethel Woods. Its online programs bring music to individuals across the country, and DMF Online is described as a place where people of all abilities can learn, connect, and celebrate the joy of music together, regardless of where they live. All online classes and events are free and are designed so that individuals, special education schools, and organizations can participate. The organization is described as a nonprofit with global reach.
