iD Tech Camps and Teen Academies was founded in 1999 by mother and daughter co-founders Kathryn and Alexa Ingram-Cauchi, with Pete Ingram-Cauchi as the first CEO, and Tana Barton Haas serving as CEO. The family pioneered tech camps for kids and teens in 1999, and the program has grown from 280 to 50,000 students per year over a 25-year legacy. Each iD Tech experience is led by instructors from universities such as Stanford and NYU, including a game design instructor from EA and a software engineering undergraduate from Caltech, with selective hiring practices and intensive hybrid training for instructors. The organization describes itself as the nation’s original and most trusted youth STEM educator for kids and teens, the world’s go-to summer STEM educator, and the world’s largest and most trusted tech program. Summer Camps are offered for kids ages 7–17, Teen Academies for teens ages 13–18, and Private Lessons for ages 7–19 with over 50 topics. The organization reports that over 50,000 girls have graduated from its camps and academies. Its stated mission is to create life-changing tech experiences that embolden students to shape the future, and it plans to offer more scholarships than ever before to students from underserved communities, with the stated goal of helping to bridge the digital divide. The organization also notes a work-from-home culture for staff with no commutes and no cubicles.
