The program includes Baby Broadway, a pre-professional tap program, and a pre-professional musical theatre program. Every class features live music, and each year of classes and technique culminates in an original full-scale production for all Shuffles students, including an annual holiday production called “Peter Pantiomime” performed in the style of a traditional English Pantomime with audience participation.

Shuffles NYC is a Broadway Tap and Musical Theatre training program for kids and teens. Baby Broadway is an early childhood program for New York City’s youngest tap and musical theater students, ages 2–3 years. Acting, singing, and dancing are combined in the musical theater program, and tap dancing is described as a way to introduce young children to the world of dance and musical theater. The school offers two pre-professional programs, one in tap and the other in musical theatre, and its pre-professional teen students are described as some of the most confident and well prepared musical theater actors and tap dancers in New York City. Classes are taught by current industry professionals.
Director and Founder Gail Pennington Crutchfield started the school in the fall of 1992, and thirty years later Shuffles has grown into a training program led by Gail Crutchfield as Founder and Executive Artistic Director. According to the program, Shuffles students work on Broadway and in high school and college musical theater programs across the country. The mission statement says that Shuffles gives students of all abilities a combination of Broadway Tap and Musical Theatre technique with a focus on performing, strives for professionalism balanced with fun, and aims for students to leave every day and every year with joy and confidence.
