Shuffles NYC - Broadway Tap and Musical Theatre School is led by Director, Founder, and Executive Artistic Director Gail Pennington Crutchfield. Director Gail Pennington Crutchfield started the school in the fall of 1992, and thirty years later Shuffles has grown into a training program that focuses on Broadway tap and musical theatre. Classes are taught by current industry professionals. The program’s mission states that it is a Broadway Tap and Musical Theatre training program for ages 18 months to 18 years that gives students of all abilities a combination of high-quality technique with a love of performing, strives for professionalism balanced with fun, and aims for Shuffles students to leave every day and every year with joy and confidence. Baby Broadway is an early childhood program for New York City’s youngest tap and musical theater students, ages 2 years to 3 years. The program offers two pre-professional programs, one in tap and the other in musical theatre. The annual holiday production Peter Pantiomime is performed in the style of a traditional English pantomime with audience participation. Tap dancing is used to introduce young children to dance and musical theater, and the musical theater program brings together acting, singing, and dancing.
