Star Learning Center

Star Learning Center offers one-to-one tutoring for students. Each student works with a tutor who follows an individual plan for the child. The program offers both in-person and online tutoring.

• Ages: 7–18 years old
• Schedule: once a week for two hours
• Price: There is a $150 registration fee for school-year tutoring. There is a $50 fee for summer tutoring.

Each tutor writes a weekly report tracking the student’s progress, and many tutors work with the same child for months and even years. Academic plans are tailored to meet each student’s needs, and the program provides individual advocacy to connect students and their families to services, support, and opportunities. Students must qualify for free or reduced lunch at school, and payment plans are available. The Star Learning Center is led by Monica Enciso. The mission of the Star Learning Center is to provide students from underserved communities with one-to-one tutoring designed to help overcome barriers to learning and succeed in school. Goddard Riverside, the larger organization, serves more than 20,000 people a year on the Upper West Side and throughout New York City with a variety of programs for all ages.
