Since 2011, Training Zone NYC has reported transforming thousands of New Yorkers through its martial arts and fitness programs. All instructors are black belts or certified professionals and bring over 35 years of combined martial arts experience. The founder and head instructor, Manny Hussain, began body building in 1987, started Taekwondo in 2001 under a 9th degree black belt who was the 2nd highest ranking black belt in ITF Taekwondo, became an assistant instructor within a few years, and is now a third degree black belt. In 2013, Manny began training Doce Pares Eskrima under the highest ranking black belt in North America and earned his black belt in 2016 under Supreme Grandmaster Dionisio “Diony” Canete; he is also a red belt in Jeet Kune Do (JKD) and a student in Sayoc Knife Fighting.

Training Zone NYC is described as a community dedicated to transforming lives through martial arts, with a curriculum that can accomplish self-defense, confidence, mental and physical fitness, weight loss, and core strengthening. Manny’s stated philosophy is, “The minute you stop becoming hungry for information, your education stops.” The school holds official affiliations with Renzo Gracie Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu as the official Ozone Park location and with Doce Pares Eskrima as the first and only training school in New York privileged to test and rank students in Doce Pares Eskrima under Grandmaster and Deacon Dong Cuesta, the highest-ranking black belt in North America.

The program offers a one week free trial and has over 200 active students, with programs for ages 4–5 (Little Pandas), 5–14 (Juniors Martial Arts), 14+ (Cardio Kickboxing), 15+ (Adult Martial Arts), and all ages (Personal Training). Training Zone NYC notes a beginner-friendly curriculum, opportunities to train with all experience levels, problem-solving on the mats, real-world self-defense skills, and adaptive personal training for children with special needs. It is described as having a family-like, supportive community atmosphere and a free week trial to start. Students travel from Queens neighborhoods including Woodhaven, Richmond Hill, Howard Beach, and Jamaica, and from Manhattan neighborhoods including East Village, Union Square, Kips Bay, and Murray Hill to train there.

Parent and student testimonials describe increased confidence and discipline for children, weight loss and motivation for adults, and a supportive, family-like atmosphere. One parent from Manhattan reports that her son has been training there for 3 years and that the instructors genuinely care about each student's development, while another parent notes that her daughter started at age 7 and at age 9 is more focused, confident, and respectful. Adult students from both Queens and Manhattan describe intense but fun kickboxing classes, practical self-defense skills, improved focus at work, and feeling welcomed starting martial arts later in life.
