• Ages: 5–18 years old
Go No Sen Karate Martial Arts Programs has been in operation since 1993 and has served families for 30 years. The leadership team includes Founder and Head Instructor Kyoshi Adam McCauley, Manager of the Yorktown location Sensei DJ Disisto, and Manager of the Peekskill location Sensei Tyler Smith. Every member of the leadership team is a homegrown student of the Go No Sen system. The mission of Go No Sen Karate is to build confident, respectful kids through expert martial arts instruction, to train both body and mind, and to create an environment of learning and sharing that supports constant growth and improvement for students, staff, and families.
Go No Sen Karate is described as a family-owned and operated martial arts school, with a clean, safe, structured environment, caring instructors, progressive teaching methods, and a curriculum that is described as fun and effective. The dojo welcomes everyone, without try-outs like some team sports, and offers programs tailored to the needs of the community, with a focus on building confidence, discipline, and respect. The school offers high-energy martial arts parties with games and fun, and no contact fitness kickboxing.
Kyoshi Adam McCauley is a 7th-degree black belt with over 40 years of martial arts experience, is a decorated martial artist, and is a recipient of the Action Martial Arts Lifetime Achievement Award and an inductee of the USA Martial Arts Hall of Fame. Sensei DJ Disisto has over 25 years of experience, a degree in Exercise Science, and a Hall of Fame honor. Tyler Smith has over 20 years of training and 15 years of teaching experience. Go No Sen Karate notes that Adam’s influence spans beyond the mat into real-world safety and empowerment, and that for 30 years it has been a local leader serving families across Yorktown and Peekskill with martial arts programs for all ages, on a mission to build “better bodies & stronger minds” through progressive martial arts education.
Parent testimonials describe Go No Sen Karate as having changed their lives for the better, with one parent highlighting a child’s birthday party where staff involved every child and managed a large group of toddlers smoothly. Another parent reports that their search for a great activity for kids ended with Go No Sen, noting that the owner and instructors truly care about the kids and focus on development, confidence, and fun, and that their child loves to grow and thrive there. A third parent shares that their son started at age 4 and is now a black belt, and credits the program with building his self-esteem, discipline, character, and leadership skills, and says they could not be happier.
