SOOP Theatre Arts Repertory (STAR) Workshops features a Spring Workshop for Grades 3–5 that focuses on highlights from NEWSIES JR! and a Spring Alphabet SOOPers program for students in K–2 that focuses on highlights from PETER PAN JR!. The workshops are part of the broader SOOP Acting Company programming led by Artistic Director Paul Romanello.

Artistic Director Paul Romanello began developing this work in 1998 with fellow actors who were responding to a lack of opportunity and a desire to control the kind of work they wanted to do. The company states that it is committed to the individual, his or her craft, and the business, which it identifies as essential parts of creating a career in this profession. The professional arm uses the name SOOP Acting Company to distinguish its varied presence, and since 2014 it has offered main stage productions that include industry guest artists, Theatre For Young Audience (TYA) holiday shows, and One Night Only! concert-style theatre events.
