Dorothy P. Flint 4-H Camp was founded in 1924 by Dorothy P. Flint, relocated to Wildwood State Park in 1928, and later moved to its permanent home on Sound Avenue, and is described as the oldest 4-H camp in New York State. The camp is grounded in the mission of Cornell Cooperative Extensions to enable people to improve their lives and communities through partnerships that put experience and research knowledge to work. Extension staff and trained volunteers deliver education programs, conduct applied research, and encourage community collaborations, and the camp offers Community Clean Up Days with general themes so participants can choose how they would like to help. The camp is accredited by the American Camp Association and licensed by the Suffolk County Department of Health. The program offers co-ed overnight and day camp experiences for youth aged 5–16, emphasizes learning by doing, and takes place in a camp environment away from common plugged technologies. Virtual and in-person open house tours are available, and Community Clean Up Days provide themed volunteer opportunities.
