About
The Art Studio offers weekly general art, drawing, oil painting, pottery, fashion, and sewing classes, along with specialty options such as fashion, comics, and digital art. The program includes weekly classes for kids, tweens and teens, and adults, as well as sensory art sessions, mid-winter break workshops, adult workshops and programs, adult paint and sip events, family nights, birthday parties, and private events.

The Art Studio describes itself as “A Space to Create” and “a space where students of all artistic levels can draw in and outside of the lines.” Its mission is to create a space where students of all artistic levels can draw in and outside of the lines, focus on technique, style and historical context, and empower students to cultivate their own style while aiming to enrich students’ lives through art and connection with others in the community.
The studio’s owner, curriculum writer, and lead instructor is Danielle Barbaro, who received a Bachelors in Fine Art and Masters in Art & Design Education, with a minor in Art History, from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, and has taught in the NYC Department of Education and in private settings. The Studio Manager is Zahra Rizvi. Lead instructor Angelica Zampini holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Molloy University with double minors in art therapy and child life. Lead instructor Chloe Veg earned a bachelor’s degree in Art from LIU Post and is working toward a master’s in Art Education. The lead fashion and sewing teacher, Stephanie Battista, has a BFA in Fashion Design from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City and has worked as a designer for over a decade with brands including Avec Les Filles, Express, Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie, and Nordstrom. Artist and former instructor Roger Beckles attended the School of Visual Arts in New York City in 1977, studied oil painting with Marcel Franquelin in Princeton, New Jersey, and exhibited oils at Garth Davidson Gallery, Clover Fine Art Gallery, Gilt Complex, Stricoff Fine Art Gallery, and Grenning Gallery.
Danielle took on ownership of The Art Studio in March 2022, and Zahra has worked there as Studio Manager since March 2022. Stephanie has been the studio’s lead fashion and sewing teacher since July 2022, Angelica joined the team in January 2023, and Chloe became part of The Art Studio in March 2024. Roger was born in 1958 in Barbados, West Indies, and passed away on May 27, 2024.
The Art Studio has received the Long Island Choice Awards Best Art School recognition from 2022 through 2025. It is involved in the Rockville Centre community by connecting art, education, and community in Rockville Centre, Long Island, and serves as co-organizer of the Art Walk RVC and founder of the Wonder Wall Holiday Art Fair. Rainbow, a six-year-old green cheek conure, is the unofficial Art Studio mascot and visits the students.
