Rye Historical Society Educational Programs and Summer Camps include a Summer Camp series, walking tours around the Rye area, lectures, workshops, and other educational programs and activities. The program also offers on-site guided tours customized for school groups, exhibitions, community events, the Little Historians Story Hour, the Rye Sound Series: The Music Conservatory of Westchester, and Member Mornings.

The Rye Historical Society was founded in 1964 and received accreditation from the American Alliance of Museums in 1980. It later acquired the Timothy Knapp House in 1992, restoring and opening it to the public in 2001 as an archival and research center. The organization is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit devoted to researching, preserving, and celebrating Rye’s historic heritage, with a mission that includes discovering and preserving historical materials, preserving historic buildings and markers, and sharing knowledge of local history. The Rye Historical Society serves as a community resource that connects people of all ages to Rye’s past and its relevance today, and it maintains permanent and rotating exhibitions such as the Tavern Room, Warming Kitchen, Traveler’s Bedroom, Innkeeper’s Private Chambers, and The Cabinet of Curiosities, along with a calendar of educational events for all ages and continually evolving curriculum materials.
