About
SPORTIME Capital Region Camps and Junior Sports Programs offers activities that include tennis, pickleball, fitness, turf sports, soccer, lacrosse, ultimate frisbee, flag football, field hockey, volleyball, dek hockey, and basketball. The program also runs a summer multi-sport camp, a summer tennis camp, multi-sport summer day camp options, school-break tennis and pickleball camps, and sports-themed events such as birthday parties, corporate gatherings, and team-building experiences. The Eager Explorers preschool/daycare operates alongside these junior sports programs.
• Ages: 3–17 years old
• Schedule: Program and facility hours are available Monday–Friday from early morning to late evening, and on weekends from early morning to late evening
Summer tennis camp and the multi-sport summer day camp are supervised by experienced, qualified coaches and counselors, and the programs are provided by a team of directors and coaches described as world-class. The Eager Explorers preschool/daycare is licensed by the New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS), and it features small class sizes, low student-to-teacher ratios, and an age-based, comprehensive curriculum. Summer tennis camp and the multi-sport summer day camp serve campers from preschool through high school, and non-members can participate in certain activities including camps, daycare, some introductory programs, court-time rental at non-discounted rates, and turf rentals, while SPORTIME members can access the full menu of programs, services, and membership benefits.
SPORTIME Capital Region, formerly SPORTIME Schenectady, recently received a renovation of more than $5 million. The club’s leadership for the Westchester and Capital Region includes Managing Director Carlos Campo and Regional Manager Mark Bowtell, within a broader SPORTIME leadership team that spans operations, finance, tennis, volleyball, facilities, engineering, marketing, information technology, human resources, retail, and tournaments. SPORTIME operates 20 clubs across Long Island, NYC, Westchester, the New York Capital Region, and New Jersey, with more than 325 indoor and outdoor tennis and pickleball courts, and the organization states that it is not a “cookie cutter” chain and that each club is unique.
The turf field at SPORTIME Capital Region serves as a regional hub for team practices, tournaments, and turf sports events. The Johnny Mac Tennis Project (JMTP), connected to the SPORTIME system through the John McEnroe Tennis Academy, serves more than 5,000 New York kids every year by removing racial, economic, and social barriers to success through tennis. The stated purpose of SPORTIME is to help those who patronize its clubs achieve their sports and fitness goals.
