The YWCA of Syracuse & Onondaga County, Inc. supports youth ages 5–18 through two main programs: Girls Inc. at YWCA and YWCA Youth Soccer. The YWCA of Syracuse & Onondaga County, Inc. was founded in 1885 as a member of the national YWCA, and the local association was founded in 1892. The organization is one of the oldest and largest women’s organizations in the nation and is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization. Its mission is stated as being dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all. The leadership team includes Fanny Villarreal, Executive Director & CEO; Wenona Timmons, Deputy Executive Director; and Caitlyn Copfer, Chief Development Officer. The YWCA of Syracuse & Onondaga County, Inc. provides direct services, empowerment programming, and advocacy to support marginalized individuals and families, especially women and girls of color, while working to challenge structural barriers to equity in the city of Syracuse and Onondaga County.
