The Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu — Kids program is for ages 3 to 14 and has four levels designed for each stage of development. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at the academy is built on leverage and technique, not size or strength, and all adult programs follow the core curriculum developed by Master Alexandre “Soca” Freitas. Every class at the local academy is taught by Soca BJJ-certified instructors, and an introductory Soca Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu class is completely free.
Alexandre “Soca” Freitas has nearly four decades of competitive and teaching experience in martial arts and is a Coral Belt with 40+ years in martial arts. His credentials include being a 10x IBJJF World Master Champion, 6x Pan-American Champion, ADCC World Champion, 2x Abu Dhabi World Legend Champion, and a 2016 nomination among the Top 10 BJJ Fighters of All Time. Samantha Freitas is a 10x IBJJF World Master Champion and 6x Pan-American Champion, and together they are part of the leadership team. The academy cites 12x World Champion as an aggregate figure on its About page and has offered world-class Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu instruction since 1987.
Soca BJJ was founded by Alexandre “Soca” Freitas with the stated purpose of bringing authentic Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, taught at a world-class level, to students of all ages and backgrounds, without being watered down or commercialized. One testimonial notes that the academy has a diversity of levels from beginners to experts and that “everyone respects each other’s level and no one is looking to hurt anyone.” Another testimonial states that “Master Soca and the entire team of instructors are great at teaching and rolling with,” and a third says, “There is no comparison. Don’t make a mistake and go anywhere else — whether your kids want to learn or you yourself want to learn. Top notch.”
