West Babylon Community Youth Center Programs offers a variety of recreational programs for boys and girls 6 years old to 16 years old, and all programs are registration driven. The organization states that volunteers are the backbone of the program and that at the West Babylon Community Youth Center every child plays.
The center’s mission states that it is committed to providing a positive and supportive environment for children to learn and play, with the goal for children to learn the basic fundamentals of the sport while having fun and forming lasting friendships, and that its mission is to provide a safe setting where every child plays. The facility includes an NBA sized gym called The Patrick M. Farrell Gym, a recreational room, an outdoor street hockey rink, and a concession stand, and a new facility was built in 2006 through the work of the Board of Directors with support from Senator Owen Johnson, to whom the building was dedicated, and Babylon Town Supervisor Steve Bellone.
Staff includes a certified Youth Counselor who works with individuals and families, and all employees and volunteers receive free AED/CPR certification, with AED/CPR and First Aid Training offered. The program also lists a Family Counselor on staff and a Special Needs Program as unique features.
Community involvement includes adopting families in need in West Babylon during the holiday season and providing meals and gifts of toys and clothing, supporting food pantries and donating Thanksgiving meals to families from Our Lady of Grace and Our Lady of Miraculous Medal Churches, and participating in Toys for Tots and the Wounded Warrior Program. The organization supports Special Olympic Wheelchair Training, sponsors other local sport organizations, provides support to West Babylon School District fundraisers, hosts West Babylon Schools SAT and AP tests, participates in the Our Lady of Grace “Simon Sez” community service fundraiser, sponsors the Autism United Hope Walk, supports local Girl Scout troops, and donates to West Babylon School District fundraisers.
